This festival coincides with Songkran (the traditional Thai New Year) and includes traditional merit-making ceremonies such as paying homage to revered Buddha image and shrines, respectfully pouring water on elders' hands, offering food to monks, and beauty contests, floral float processions and Northeastern folk entertainment.
