KHON KAEN

Khon Kaen is positioned in the heart of Isan and is the region's educational centre, housing one of Thailand's best universities, The town's large student population make it quite a lively place, although there are few attractions to attract the average tourist. The province, however, does produce high-quality silk; HM Queen Sirikit in fact orders hers from Chonnabot District of Khon Kaen province. Khmer ruins can also be found 76 km from town at Ku Puai Noi
