NAN

The main draw of Nan town is the national treasure of Wat Phumin. The temple is most remarkable for its many murals in pastel tones depicting tales from the Buddha's life. Another temple of some merit is Wat Phra That Chae Haeng, located southwest of town on the oposite bank of the river.

Nan has its share of festivals too. The Golden Orange Festival held in December or January celebrates Nan's most famous export. Parades and floats decorated with golden-skinned oranges take to the streets. The other big attraction in Nan is the annual Dragon-Boat Race, held to celebrate the end of Buddhist Lent in October or November.
