The
first major town to the west of Bangkok is also home to the world's largest
Buddhist monument.
PHRA PATHOM CHEDI
The
area around Nakhon Pathom has been settled for millennia, and the site
of Phra Pathom Chedi has been a religious area for centuries. During his
reign, King Rama IV visited the area and ordered the original crumbling
chedi to be built over with the existing huge golden spire.
