Loei
is a little-visited province which is quite unlike any
other part of northeastern Thailand. Loei is sparsely
populated because of its mountainous geography, which
makes it one of the most strikingly scenic provinces in
Thailand. For Thais it is worth a visit during the cool
season just to feel the novelty of a frost. |

The
two major national parks in Loei province are Phu
Rua and Phu Kradung,
both of which contain peaks that rise more than 1,300
metres above sea level. These parks are famous for their
wide variety of wild flowers. |
